Since what seems like the beginning of time, the idea of healthy eating to yield a healthier overall lifestyle has been implemented into our lives. Either through varying marketing/advertising tactics or hearing it from various people and other sources (ie: books, media, internet, etc.) healthy eating seems to be the correct path to take, right?

In short, yes of course it is…but when you dig a little deeper you’ll realize that not all healthy food may provide the best results for certain parts of your body. When it comes to your teeth, there are certain healthy foods that you may want to either closely moderate or eliminate altogether from your diet, if possible. Some of these foods include:

Milk – The vast amounts of sugar found in regular cow’s milk can cause issues for the teeth if they aren’t properly cleaned after consumption. Luckily there are many types of milk and milk alternatives to choose from.

Orange Juice The acid found in a glass of orange juice can be quite detrimental to your teeth. If you are able to clean your teeth thoroughly after its consumption that is ideal, otherwise consider minimizing your intake of it and/or using a straw when you do.

Dried Fruit – Although very delicious, the problem with dried fruit is that it contains a lot of sugar which makes it that much easier to stick to dental plaque and create more serious issues.

The power of choice and free will always factor heavily into the everyday decisions people make, especially when it comes to food. No one is perfect but when you make better decisions, your body will thank you.
